How to configure the Confluent connector

Getting real-time data flowing into Vectara has never been easier, thanks to our seamless integration with Confluent Cloud. With just a few simple configurations, businesses can stream data directly from their Confluent Kafka topics into Vectara’s enterprise-grade RAG platform, unlocking powerful AI-driven insights in real time. This fully managed integration eliminates the complexities of data movement, ensuring security, governance, and scalability right out of the box. Whether operating in hybrid, multi-cloud, or on-prem environments, organizations can trust that their streaming data is always accessible, reliable, and ready to drive AI-powered automation. By combining Confluent’s industry-leading data streaming with Vectara’s advanced AI capabilities, enterprises can accelerate time to production and build intelligent assistants with unprecedented speed and accuracy.

Add the plugin to Confluent Cloud

1. Download the Vectara Sink Connector from the Confluent Hub.
2. Login to Confluent Cloud
3. Find the Environment and Cluster you will be working with.
4. Click connectors and then Add Connector
5. Click add plugin
   1. Custom Plugin Name = `kafka-connect-vectara-<version>`
   2. Custom Plugin Description = `Plugin to integrate Confluent Cloud with Vectara`
   3. Connector Class = `com.vectara.kafka.connect.VectaraUploadDocumentSinkConnector`.
   4. Click Source for the connector type. Select the archive you downloaded in the first step.
   5. Add `api.key` as a sensitive property.

Launching a connector

1. From the connector plugins select the kafka-connect-vectara plugin that you just uploaded.
2. Configure the Confluent API key by creating one or using an existing one.
3. Configure the networking endpoint. This will be based on your `api.url` setting with the default being `api.vectara.io:443`
4. Configure the connector sizing.
5. Launch the connector.
